Gut Health plays a huge role in the condition of our skin! As is well known in scientific research, when we clean up our gut health through whole foods, regular exercise and movement, our sleep, clarity, and concentration improves, and walaah! Our skin jumps on its best game.
The Importance of Detoxing
Detoxing is a great way to fast track your way there. By eating whole foods every day and minimizing processed foods, and getting your heart rate up most days of the week, your quality of life will improve so dramatically you won’t want to go back! The World Health Organization (WHO, 2024) recommends getting your heart rate up for at least 30 minutes per day—lots of fresh fruits and vegetables from your local markets on the weekend and complementing them with your favorite protein sources.
Reducing Inflammation
Reducing gluten and lactose is also helpful, whether you are sensitive or not, as lower gluten reduces overall inflammation in the body and the digestive system.
The Gut-Brain-Skin Connection
As is well known in evidence-based research across the board, the gut-brain axis operates in a loop system. The skin is the largest organ in the body, with seven functions, one being the removal of toxins. When we focus on a healthy lifestyle full of movement, whole foods, and sleep, our toxins naturally purge, and following this, our skin will start to reflect the way we are treating our bodies and ourselves.
A Two-Week Commitment
At Bosz, we recommend detoxing for at least 2 weeks or until you start seeing improvements in your skin. Your skin improving is a great indication of your gut health status. And we’re all very here for those win-wins!
